Before i start i would like to say thank you to Only-1luv for all the help and support all the way to 99...thanks
Introduction
Welcome to my 1-99 Fishing Guide! With this guide you will learn the fastest way possible to reach level 99 in Fishing. Using these methods described in this guide I reached level 99 Fishing in 7 months(11-12hrs each day ftw sharks). You will also learn a few other methods to achieve level 99 in the fastest way possible while still making a nice profit! Enjoy and good luck!
Items you will need to begin with
-Patience (Fishing isn't one of the fastest skills in the game)
-1 Crayfish Cage
-1 Fishing Rod
-250 Fishing Bait
-1 Fly Fishing Rod
-10k Feathers to start off (If you have more money then buy more feathers. I suggest not to buy more than 10k Feathers at a time incase you change your mind)
Hurry along to the Grand Exchange and purchase these items. Once that is sorted out bank ALL of your items except for the Crayfish Cage, your 250 units of fishing bait and your 1 Fishing Rod. Once you have those 3 Items in your inventory, Head down to Lumbridge.
Levels 1-5/10
Since the update of the new Tutorial, Crayfish have been introduced. These fish are in fact faster than Shrimp. So head down to the Crayfish fishing location here:
Method:
1-Click the spot
2-Wait for your inventory to get full (Don't worry about the fishing rod and bait taking up extra space)
3-When your inventory is full
a. Run to the general store
b. Sell your fish
c. Start running back to the spot
d. Drop the gold from the fish along the way back to the spot
4. Repeat the steps above as needed. You may leave this spot at level 5, but I strongly recommend staying here until level 10.
Note: Level 1-10 should take no more than a few minutes.
Levels 5/10-20~
That wasn't so hard now was it? Now that you reached level 10 Fishing (or 5) you can start Ocean Bait Fishing. Start running to Draynor to the Bait fishing spot. Drop your Crayfish Cage along the way. The location is here:
Method:
1. Right click the fishing spot
2. Select "Bait-Fishing Spot"
3. Wait until your inventory is full
4. When your inventory is full
a. Run to Draynor Bank
b. Deposit your fish
c. Run back to the fishing spot
5. Repeat steps 1-5
You can fish here until level 20 or until all your bait is finished. I suggest staying here until no more than level 22. Leaving to the next location at level 20 is fine.
F2P Levels 20-99
Unfortunately I'm only am going to give one method for free players level 20 or higher in Fishing. The reason for this is because making money by fishing for F2P players is a huge waste of time. If your F2P and need money, go cut yews. However, free players that wish to gain fast fishing xp can try this method.
If you haven't already, bank your items from Draynor and withdraw 1 Fly Fishing Rod and around 10k feathers. (Don't withdraw more than 10k incase you die). Head to the Barbarian Village Fly Fishing Spot here:
Method:
1. Hop to World 1
2. Fish a load of Fish
3. When you are full
a. You may walk north
b. Bank at Edgeville
c. Walk South
d. Repeat steps 2-3
4. Or you can do the faster way and
a. Start dropping your fish
b. While Dropping type in free raws over and over
c. Continue dropping
d. If someone trades you give them as many fish as you can
e. keep dropping if necessary
f. Repeat steps 2 & 4
Alternate Method
If you don't care about banking and don't like dropping try this.
Go Here:
1. Fish at the lumbridge Fly Fishing spot
2. When you are full run to the general store following the route shown.
3. Sell your fish as quickly as you can
4. Run back to the fishing spot
5. Drop your gold on your way back if you wish
6. Repeat steps 1-6
Members: Levels 20-68/70/99
Requirements: Must have completed Shilo Village Quest
Head to shilo via Cart or Walking. The Fishing Spots can be in these locations:
Note: These spots change VERY frequently. Stick to the spots south closest to bank and by the bridge if you can.
Method:
1. Withdraw your Fly Fishing Rod and feathers
2. Go Fish (I figure you should know this by now)
3. Go Bank(look above)
4. Repeat 2-4
Shilo Tips
1. You will average 30-38k xp/hr here depending mainly on your fishing level.
2. If you run short on feathers buy some at the fishing shop. If you dont have money note your fish and sell to the fishing shop in Shilo. Buy back feathers.
3. World 22 is the Shilo Fishing Player made guild CC- "w22 fish"
Should I stay?
Skillers are the only players that should stay here until level 99 to ensure fastest xp. If you are lazy with paying concentration stay here at Shilo Village until level 99. You do not want to try Barbarian Heavy Rod Fishing if you can't concentrate. If you are here for making money fish here until 68 or so. Then go fish monks at Piscatoris Fishing Colony. (I will not go too in-depth with this but if you are here for efficient money fish monks as soon as you can for decent xp/money). If you think you can handle it and want the great fishing xp (40-55k xp/hr) along with pretty nice xp bonuses (1.1m str and agility xp from lvl 70-99 fishing and 1.5m cooking xp from lvl 70-99 fishing) then read on for the Barbarian Heavy Rod guide.
Levels 70-99 BARB FISHING !
This is overall my least favorite form of fishing but You will receive excellent fishing xp (40k/hr at lvl 70, 55k/hr at lvl 99) and decent strength, agility and cooking xp! You never need to bank. You can get lvl 70-99 with just 25 feathers!
BEFORE YOU START:
You must have these stats or bax falls will be a waste of time
70 Fishing
45 Strength
45 Agility
Don't ask why you need these stats. You need them and thats that.
First, rub your games necklace to Barbarian outpost and go here(bring 1 knife and 25 feathers to begin):
If you don't already have a Barbarian Rod talk to Otto and ask about fishing. He will then tell you to look under his bed. Get the rod and go fish.
Organize your fish in a similar way. This will help speed up the cutting process. (Note: the only thing you have to worry about organizing is the last 2 rows. and the fish on top of the knife)
Now you will have to be self-sufficient and make your own bait. Cut the fish up! =) To do so click the knife then click the fish under it. Repeat this as fast as you can. Do the same for the fish on the top. Now move the knife to the left 1 slot and cut the fish under there. Drop your offcuts (you may fish with offcuts if you are low on bait. Otherwise, drop the offcuts.)
I did sharks 76-99 very slow but i did make 109 mil.....
That was the slow part now to medium and slow.....
- To get to 99 fishing you will need... -
- From level 1:
1,303,444 Shrimp
- From level 20:
260,600 Trout
- From level 40:
259,945 Trout
Salmon
162,466 Tuna
144,414 Lobsters
- From Level 62:
254,013 Trout
181,438 Salmon
158,758 Tuna
141,119 Lobsters
105,839 Monkfish
- From Level 76:
233,960 Trout
167,115 Salmon
146,225 Tuna
129,978 Lobsters
97,484 Monkfish
106,346 Sharks
- From Level 90:
153,762 Trout
109,830 Salmon
96,102 Tuna
85,424 Lobsters
64,068 Monkfish
69,892 Sharks
As you can see, you could make millions of gp! Good luck on 99 fishing fellow fishers, I am
99 Fishing. I would highly suggest fishing trout and salmon to 80-90 fishing, and then
switching to monkfish. This is the best way to get 99 Fishing, time wise. Sharks will always
win the moneywise part, but monkfish and fly fishing are the best approach to 99 Fishing.
My Money Per Hour
Want to know how much money you can you can make per hour? Here's what I make per hour:
NOTE: TAKE IN TO ACCOUNT THAT I HAVE 99 FISHING!
METHODS OR BOOSTS ALWAYS HELP.
1. Sharks: I get 50k-100k per hour, that’s 50-100 sharks per hour.
2. Monkfish: I can make around 50k an hour, while maintaining decent exp.
3. Lobsters: I have made 50k an hour; I could probably make 100k now at 99 Fishing.
4. Fly Fishing: The least money per hour out there, however, I think it is still the best exp.
I have met plenty of people fishing there, and I still see some high level fisherman like myself.
No doubt it’ll remain one of the best ways.
5. Sword fish/tuna/other: Not sure. Email/PM me if you know
That’s the major fish that make money! I suggest not cooking fish, as prices fall when you do so,
but then again, free cooking exp is always nice. Meh, your choice, not mine.

Fish prices
Want to know the prices of fish so you can plan out how much you'll make? You've come to the
right place! I've put the current price of fish. Note: I will try to keep it updated but I
can't promise anything. These are outlines of the prices. Most of the prices are outdated,
but I will try to fix them. I also included a "sold often", to indicate if that fish if often
bought or sold.
Also note, with the addition of the Grand Exchange, you can easily find the prices of fish there,
or even on the Runescape Homepage, by clicking “Game Guide” and then Grand Exchange. Try that
and compared prices.

Fishing guild
The fisher guild is a huge dock with almost every fish in the game! Complete with its
own bank, fishing shop, range, and a few fishing tools on the ground, and its bank
and fishing docks are very close together! This is by far the best place to fish any
fish, even sharks! Found in Hemster, just west on the road from Camelot, its near 2
good teleport spots, the Ardougne teleport and the Camelot teleport. This means it is
easy to get to and from the guild. At the shop you'll find some bait, and a bunch of
fishes! The bank is one of the few banks I know of that you can light fires in! Chop
some trees from the near by forests and you can cook your fish really fast! Very useful
if you've just fished 1k lobsters and need to cook them fast! You can not get into the
guild until level 68, or 65 with a fishing pot or one of the fish pies. The other pie
will raise your level by 5 levels, allowing you to enter at 65. I suggest sticking with
Catherby before level 68, but hey, its your choose.
Fishing traw
Found in Port Khazard, northwest of Yanille and south of Ardougne, the Trawler is a fun
game to play with friends or random strangers! Bring along some cash, a few friends,
some ropes and get ready to rock 'n fish! You will need ropes, swamp paste, bailing
buckets and some good friends or plain old strangers. Be sure to check out the themed
world for this, by looking until you find one titled "Fishing Trawler". It will make
things easier if you don't have friends who fish.
Note: Swamp paste is made by using swamp tar (Found in the Lumbridge swamp) with flour
and then cooking it on a range. You can also find it on the Grand Exchange.
Talk with the Cap'in, and he will let you on boat. Tell your friends to follow you on;
remember, you have 1 minute to get on. Get ready - it’s not an easy Mini-Game by any
standards. First, once you get on the boat, MAKE SURE NOT TO SINK! How do you do that?
Well, you will have to repair the boats floor, along with bail water and fix the nets
upstairs. Have a few people just fix the floor and bail water when there’s nothing to
fix. Another person should run up and fix the nets, fix the floor and bail like hell!
It will take 10 minutes or so, but you can do it! Be warned, if you fail you die! No,
you just end up in the water with no where to go. Jump in a barrel and float to shore –
you’ll end up around Port Sarim.
Did you win? Gratz! Now go check the net behind the boat. If you can't see it, people
are probably swarming it, so just follow them. Depending on your fishing level, you may
end up with just lobsters or a few sharks, or you may end up with Sea Turtles and Manta
Rays! Both are worth a nice amount, I can generally pull off 100k a trip. If you didn't
get anything good, go back and train your fishing level up.
Fishing Skill cape
So you want to know what the skill cape is like, huh? Well, I’ll explain. It is a blue
cape, with yellow trim (If you own any other skill capes), with a hood.
The emote: You appear on a pond, fish a goldfish like thing and then throw it over your
head. This emote is funny if someone is behind you, as you appear to be throwing fish
at them.
