Jagex Goof? Or Fraudulent Email?

I was at Great Clips today (8/25/2011) when I recieved an E-mail that I have been placed the "Danger-Zone". I was like WTF?


I haven't done anything to deserve the "Danger-Zone".
So as I am waiting to get my hair cut I get on my Smart Phone and check it out on the appeal offense part of the Runescape site via the link in the E-mail. It says type: Banned, reason: Macroing, status : Banned then it says something about it being a mistake... It allso showed were I was muted for Bad Language. Now when I went back to get a picture of it it says nothing but he bad language.. So i tried to click the link that was in the email (now that I'm home on my PC) and Norton 360 blocked it as a Fraudulent website so I changed my safety questions and password just to be safe. Looks legit to me.. You be the judge. Please don't go to the website just in-case and there is a http:// in front of all this just didn't want to make it a hyperlink.

This part of the URL. Always make sure the URL ends with runescape.com and doesn't have any additional periods after it until after a slash.

Also, I'm not sure what browser you're using, but both Firefox and Google Chrome will highlight the domain name in the URL, and make everything else duller.

In my browser, this site's URL looks something like this:
http://guild-of-arts.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=rsgeneral

It's useful for making sure it's not a fake website.

Yeah I was using the browser on my Smartphone originally. Currently using Firefox and I see what you mean about the Proboards.com being highlighted. Thanks again.

ya its a scam, see it almost daily in account help.

just remeber that jagex never emails you about offences, those are always done exclusively on the runecape site.

Also if you ever think it is actually legit, do NOT click on the link in the Email.

Instead go to the official RS website yourself and login to check.

im sure the emil that got sent to you as well the [e-mail] is a dead give away to me casue im sure jagex's email aint that
